Shamal's Promise aka Robbie
Robbie, our very first Saluki, was a rescue who came to live with us on Saturday
18th October 2003. I had admired the breed from the age of 14 and owning
one was my dream come true. Even having owned dogs all of my life
it certainly did not prepare me for the Saluki. Alan and I were unprepared
for the challenges we were about to face, but patience, training and effort
certainly paid off.
Our first picture of Robbie whilst he was still in rescue
Robbie and I went to obedience classes on a weekly basis where he did everything that was asked of him, but once outside in an open space Robbie developed selective hearing! (So selective we visited the vets to have his hearing checked)!!
Whenever he disappeared we knew where to find him, 3 fields away amongst the horses, this was his favourite haunt, he loved nothing better than just to mix with them however, this introduced us to the farmer who gave us permission to free run our dogs in his fields. Visits to the beach resulted in Robbie joining horses and riders galloping out of sight but returning tired and unscathed, being what is now the patient owners we just awaited his return as he always came back even if it was on his terms.

Robbie loves lying at the top of the stairs......
We are proud to say that Robbie has many wins including Best in Shows at
Companion Shows which can be seen on his results page....
Robbie has also achieved his Bronze, Silver and Gold Good Citizen Awards, all by the tender age of 2. Robbie certainly turned heads wherever we went, he is so majestic and elegant, even now at almost 11 years of age he is still stunning.

Robbie is a very gentle dog who has taken the arrival of Marley and Dexter
in his stride. Robbie was always taken to the Championship Shows along with
Marley hence the reason he is KC registered. He now likes nothing better than
to be curled up on the sofa, him in one corner and Marley in the other.
